Anticipated Prenatal Testing Schedule
(NOTE: ALL TESTS ORDERED AT MD DISCRETION, YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE EVERY TEST LISTED)
1st trimester:

Abdominal/Vaginal ultrasound at approx 7 – 9 weeks to determine dates

First OB visit soon after sonogram with MD. (Complete exam including PAP smear)

Prenatal Blood Work – Prescription given for patient to go to lab that is insurance appropriate

Appointments will be every 4 weeks with MD or nurse, unless otherwise needed
-
1st trimester prenatal screening (ultrascreen, nuchal translucency, evaluates risk for down syndrome and trisomy 18), to be done between 12 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days.

If indicated, non-invasive prenatal testing (MaterniT21) can be done after 10 weeks. This is a blood test that checks DNA for trisomies.

Pap, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia Cultures
2nd Trimester:
-
Prenatal screening done at about 16 weeks – AFP Quad/Sequential Screen - blood drawn at OB office (evaluates risk for neural tube defects, downs syndrome, and trisomy 18)

Appointments will continue at every 4 weeks with MD or nurse, unless otherwise needed

Level II Sonogram done between 19 and 22 weeks, by appointment only

Glucose and Complete Blood Count drawn at OB office at 26 – 28 weeks

Other tests may include an amniocentesis, fetal echocardiogram, extra blood tests if indicated
3rd Trimester:
-
Appointments will be every 2 weeks with MD or nurse,beginning at 32 weeks, then once a week beginning at 36 weeks, unless otherwise needed

Growth sono to be done at 32 – 35 weeks by appointment only

Group B Strep culture to be obtained at about 36 weeks during routine weekly visit.

Repeat HIV test at 36 weeks as recommended by CDC and NYSDOH

More blood tests, sono’s and/or Biophysical Profiles may be done if indicated
Anticipated OB appointment schedule breakdown: (may be adjusted due to clinical situation and patient needs)
7-8 weeks - new OB sono
Approx. 8 weeks - MD visit (after sono has been obtained)
Approx. 10 - 12 weeks - Non-invasive prenatal testing (MaterniT21) if indicated
12 weeks - 13 6/7 weeks - Ultrascreen
After ultrascreen - MD visit
16 weeks- Sequential screen, Nurse visit
20 weeks - Level II Sono and MD visit
24 weeks - Nurse Appointment
28 weeks -Nurse Appointment
32 weeks - Growth sono and MD visit
34 weeks - Nurse Appointment
36 weeks - Nurse Appointment (Group B strep culture and HIV test)
37 weeks and beyond -MD appointments
