In certain areas of the world, there are mosquitos that can infect humans with the Zika Virus. The CDC has recommended avoiding travel to any area that has confirmed cases of Zika from mosquitos. Zika Virus is known to cause birth defects if a pregnant woman contracts this virus. This virus is also known to remain in a male human semen for up to 6 months. Because of this, it is advised not to attempt pregnancy with the male partner has been in an affected area within 6 months of attempting conception.


If you are pregnant and have traveled to a Zika affected area, you will need Zika virus testing ONLY if you demonstrate symptoms of the virus. The most common symptoms of Zika are • Fever • Rash • Headache • Joint pain • Red eyes • Muscle pain.


Please inform your doctor if you have these symptoms after travel to an affected area.
